Andrew Slebonick Named Vienna Police Officer of the Year

— On April 5, the American Legion Post 180 in Vienna held its annual ceremony and banquet dinner to honor their 2016 Town of Vienna “Police Officer of the Year.” This year’s recipient was Officer Andrew Slebonick.

Officer Slebonick has been with the Vienna Police Department since 2013. The letter of nomination described Officer Slebonick as an asset to the Vienna Police Department because of his positive attitude, upbeat disposition and unwavering dedication to the mission. Although Officer Slebonick is a relatively new officer, he serves the department and the community by field training junior officers, serving as a Breath Alcohol Technician, working as an instructor for the women’s self-defense program (RAD) and volunteering as a police academy simulation trainer. Officer Slebonick is always willing to go the extra mile to serve the community. To that end, Officer Slebonick was also recently awarded the Bronze Medal of Valor for helping to save the life of a suicidal citizen.
