On Saturday, Feb. 11, Mookies BBQ, was transformed by the high-energy sounds of “SilverLine," fronted by Great Falls residents Mike Novak and Jim Volpicelli, along with Mike Helget and Dan Lasik. The local eatery pulsed as guests danced to the sounds of ’80s favorites and classic rock covers. Sisson Landscapes opened its red building for a pre-show buffet catered by Mookie’s. Donations from the show and proceeds from the dinner and raffle were designated by the band to support the Matthew Vernon Poyner Memorial Foundation (www.mvplegacy.org). The foundation honors the life of Matt Poyner, a 16-year-old Great Falls resident and sophomore at Langley High School, who died suddenly of acute viral myocarditis in February 2015. Donations to the foundation help advance myocarditis research, support programs for wounded veterans and provide leadership awards to college-bound high school seniors.
