Meeting to be Held on Land Use Issues in Great Falls

The Land Use & Zoning Committee of the Great Falls Citizens Association (GFCA) will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Great Falls Library. The committee meeting, which is open to all local residents, will discuss two timely land use issues:

  • A proposed 62 unit assisted living and memory care facility at 1131 Walker Road (across from Dante’s restaurant). This joint project of Verity Commercial and IntegraCare is seeking a special exception from the county zoning laws because the property on which it would be built is partially zoned commercial and partially residential. The developers will present their plans to the community and take questions. GFCA invites interested neighbors and residents to attend to share their views.

  • The Land Use & Zoning Committee will also discuss a proposed county ordinance that would regulate short-term rentals of dwellings through online hosting platforms such as Airbnb and Vacation Rental by Owner. The county proposal would require potential renters to obtain a permit, limit rentals to no more than 90 days per year, and prohibit commercial events such as weddings. The county is expected to consider and enact this ordinance this spring. GFCA is interested in hearing residents’ comments and experiences.
