In response to the letter by Martina Leinz (“Gun Violence As Public Health Crisis,” Connection, June 5-11, 2019), I have one question:
Which of the gun control proposals you are championing would have prevented the Virginia Beach shooting?
You mention expanded background checks, banning assault weapons, standard capacity magazine bans, one-gun-a-month for firearm purchases, and preventing domestic abusers from possessing or purchasing firearms. Be honest now, in your answer. If you are, you will have to admit that none of these would have prevented the Virginia Beach shooting. You would also have to admit (honestly) that your ultimate goal is the elimination of private ownership of firearms.
